Wheat Aroma Slowly Roasted over Charcoal

Not all barbecue needs to win with heavy, rich meat flavors. A seemingly simple skewer of mini mantou, slowly toasted over charcoal, can also become a table favorite that makes you reach for one more skewer.

Lingmu's grilled golden mantou are made by skewering plain white mini buns and grilling them patiently over charcoal. As the heat gently rises, the soft, snow-white buns gradually turn an enticing golden yellow, with just the right touch of char on the edges. The outer layer turns lightly crisp from the charcoal fire, while the inside stays soft and fluffy. With one bite, you get the toasted aroma first, followed by the natural fragrance of wheat.

Before coming off the grill, they are brushed with a light layer of sauce and dusted with cumin, chili powder, and white sesame seeds, adding barbecue's signature savory kick and mild heat to the mantou's delicate wheat aroma. The seasoning never overpowers the buns themselves; instead, it makes the toasted crust stand out even more.

They are wonderful enjoyed in between richer barbecue items like lamb skewers, pork belly, and fresh oysters. After a few skewers of meat, taking a bite of golden mantou—crispy outside, soft inside—cuts through the richness and brings an easy, relaxed rhythm to the meal.

At Lingmu, even simple ingredients deserve to be grilled with care.

Life is fast; Lingmu is slow.
